Terms and Conditions

September 2025

Fiona Gould BA PGCE ARSM DipABRSM LTCL (the Teacher)

provides music tuition based on the following Terms & Conditions:

The Parent/Guardian of the Pupil must sign agreement to these Terms & Conditions when applying for lessons using the Registration Form.

1. Lessons & Fees

• Lessons take place at school.

• Lesson dates are agreed on a termly basis, whereupon the Teacher supplies a Statement confirming the timetable. Please mention to the Teacher at the earliest possible opportunity if there will be a planned absence which coincides with an allocated time slot.

—There will be additional fees for examination entry, or competition/festival participation, should the Pupil opt in.

• Tuition fees are charged monthly based on the number of lessons across the year, in accordance with an agreed monthly subscription plan.

• Fees should be paid via online bank transfer or regular standing order at the start of each month unless otherwise agreed.

✔️Late payments may result in lessons being paused until payment is received.

2. Medical Health & Wellbeing

• Students must not attend lessons if they have a communicable infectious disease or where guidelines have been issued advising against unnecessary contact with others.

• The Teacher reserves the right to refuse or terminate a lesson without refund if he has reasonable grounds to believe that the Student is carrying an infectious disease.

Unfortunately, missed lessons at such short notice cannot be refunded or rescheduled.

• In case of doubt, Students may switch to having their lesson via online video link without notice.

3. Online Lessons

• Where lessons take place using an online video service such as Zoom or FaceTime, the Student (or their parent or carer) is responsible for the satisfactory working of their digital equipment and internet connection.

• When a child is learning online, their parent or carer should be available at the beginning and again at the end of the lesson and is welcome throughout.

4. Missed Lessons

• The Teacher will charge for any scheduled lesson which the Student fails to attend either in person or online unless he has received at least 48 hours prior notice.

• If the Teacher cancels a scheduled lesson, the Student will receive a replacement lesson, a lesson credit, or a refund of the lesson fee.

5. Safeguarding

• The Teacher is a professional member of EPTA, is guided by and adopts all of their standard policies on safeguarding.

• The Teacher’s current DBS Enhanced Disclosure Certificate is available to view upon request.

-The Teacher is up-to-date with Safeguarding training, which is provided by the School.

6. Use of Video during lessons

Videos of pupil’s or teacher’s hands will be taken during lesson time to fully demonstrate a target for practice. Once a video has been sent to the Parent/Guardian, it is then immediately and permanently deleted from the Teacher’s device. Please keep the videos you receive to support your child with practice. It’s an excellent method of learning if used properly.

7. Additional General Conditions

• The Student will not be entered for any examination, competition or public performance without the prior consent of both the Teacher and the Student.

• If the Teacher supplies a Student with a video or recording of his performance or allows a recording to be made during a lesson, the copyright ownership in that recording shall belong to Fiona Gould Tuition, and it may not be used except as directed by the Teacher for personal, private study purposes.

✔️I confirm that these are the only piano lessons my child is receiving.

✔️I agree to give at least 7 days notice if a reschedule is required.

✔️Lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice will be charged in full.

✔️If the teacher cancels, the lesson will be rescheduled or credited.

✔️The Student is required to bring the relevant books to lessons.

✔️Regular practice is expected to ensure progress.

✔The Teacher will alert Parent/Guardian if concerns arise with respect to progress.

8. Termination of Lessons

• The Student will give the Teacher one month’s written notice, or one month’s fees in lieu of notice, when terminating lessons for any reason. Please note, there will be a calculation for any outstanding balance given that the cost is spread across 12 calendar months.

• Effective learning demands and depends upon mutual respect between Teacher, Student, Parents, including respect for property, equipment and the studio environment. The Teacher reserves the right to terminate lessons without notice or refund if this clearly breaks down.

• Either party may terminate lessons without notice if the other breaches the Terms and Conditions outlined in this document.
